The card is selected, returned to the pack and brought secretly to the top.
A double lift of the card and the one below it allows the magician to show the wrong card.
The left hand revolves the deck it holds so that a short end sticks out of the left hand.
The right hand brings the two cards to that end and slides them at a right angle to the deck into the middle of the deck and along so they are centered in relation to the deck.
The right hand takes hold of the short end of the deck protruding from the left hand, clamps the deck firmly and takes it away from the left hand. The deck is revolved to show the 'wrong' card sticking out of the deck.
The deck is now returned to the left hand which again takes hold of it at a short end.
The right hand moves over the deck to the protruding card(s) as if to square the card. The right fingers touch the top edge of the card, the right thumb touches the back just down from the top.
The right thumb moves up, pulling the top of the two cards up slightly until the right finger tips can feel the break between the two cards.
The right finger tips exert pressure on the hidden second card and push its top edge down until it wraps around the edge of the deck proper. The left index finger grabs hold of this wrapped portion and holds it in position.
The right hand moves away after squaring the deck proper a bit.
The spectator is then asked to push down on the protruding card and then pull it out of the other side of the deck.
The spectator turns over the card to discover that by some magical process the wrong card has become the right one.
As soon as the spectator has freed the card from the deck, the right hand moves over the deck.
The right fingers take hold of the deck along the top narrow side, the left fingers release hold of the bent over card. The right fourth finger is placed to the left side edge of the bent over card.
The right hand now rotates to the left to firmly take hold of the deck at the left top end. In doing so the pressure of the right fourth finger revolves the bent over card into the deck. The left and right hands square the deck.
Tempo
From the time the wrong card is inserted into the deck until the spectator pulls the card from the deck the handling should be done as a continuous series of movements with only a slight pause when the deck is turned so the spectator can see the wrong card protruding from the deck.
Performance Notes
Notice that the revelation should be delayed a beat or two after the spectator has pulled the card out of the deck.
